THE DEBUT BOOTLEG SIXTIES TOUR FINALLY HITS THE UK IN 2010.....GLITZ AT THE GUILDHALL......TONY LOOKS BACK ON A SOMEWHAT " INTERESTING " 2009......

The biggest and best news around the Transmedia742.Net office this year is the fact that the brilliant Bootleg Sixties show is FINALLY making it's touring debut in the UK in Spring 2010. There was a definite false start in 2009, when the show was originally meant to tour in the Spring, but due to a combination of factors the tour actually ended up being ten dates spread over three months...NOT the ideal situation ! However, a new booking team came on board over the summer, and at the time of going to press the show will be playing a massive FORTY - THREE dates in February and March 2010. Although it's a daunting prospect, not least on the financial front, the whole Bootleg's team is confident of the show itself andis really looking forward to getting stuck in to the tour....and it gets even better, because the show has already been confirmed to open 2010's Beatles Festival in Liverpool at the prestigious Philharmonic on Friday August 27th, and it now looks like this will be the pivotal date in a second, smaller UK tour, which will take in the areas missed on the Spring dates....so it's back to the future for 2010 !

In a year sadly short on prestigious events, Transmedia742.Net ,were on hand to make sure that this year's Financial Services Forum awards dinner at London's mighty Guildhall went off with a bang. The company handled all sound and vision for the event, and used two G-Lec LED " stealth " screens for the first time, with excellent results. The great and the good of London's financial world were treated to a superb meal and a slick, impressive awards ceremony fronted by presenter Alison Bell, and the building's Great Hall looked amazing thanks to the clever architectural uplighting that was placed at the base of all the key pillars. Having done this event several times before at it's old venue, the Floral Hall in Covent Garden, it was great to be part of the move to this superb new location, and discussions are already under way about how to make 2010's event even better.

The recession hit many industries and businesses hard in 2008 and 2009, and the entertainment and corporate event industries were no exception. Tony reflects on the year gone by and looks forward to a more successful 2010....." We first realised that things were going to get tough when we started getting calls from clients who ran events regularly telling us that they were going to have to postpone or even cancel that particular year's event. We also saw major clients like music giant Yamaha significantly reduce their " live " presence over the year, and in fact we only did one event with them in 2009 as they looked to utilise their budgets in other areas. Some of their competitiors, for whom we've worked in the past, didn't even do THAT, and some of this effect spilled over into the general touring market. One theatre manager told me that he'd only had to cancel an average of one show a year in all the years he'd been at the venue, but that this year he'd already had to cancel EIGHT before the end of February ! There's no doubt that suddenly there was less money around and a lot less work; the top three to five per cent of the market seemed to be unaffected as the banks, computer giants and telecommunications companies continued their live activities almost as normal, but further down the scale it was a different story with a lot of companies and individuals being forced out of business. There was a period in the summer where the phone just stopped ringing for a while, and that's not good. Fortunately we've got the Bootleg Sixties tour coming up in early 2010 and also some very interesting projects being talked about to run throughout the year, so with a bit of luck we'll all see a change for the better next year."
